The Leitrim Glens Sportive takes place this year on Sunday 18th August 2019. This is a non-competitive event. There are four routes this year, the 40km starting at 10:15am, the 100km starting at 10am, the 150km at 9:15am and the 200km at 9am. All routes start and finish in Manorhamilton, about 25km east of Sligo on the N16. Route details, maps and profiles of the climbs are available here on our website. The entry fee is €25 for the 40k, €30 for the 100k and €40 for the 150k/200k. If you are not a member of Cycling Ireland there is an additional €5 fee for insurance. Registration this year is online only except for the 40k route. The fee includes refreshments at the various food stops and a hot meal after the event. Sign-on opens from 7:30am for the 200/150k, from 8:30am for the 100k and from 9am for the 40k at Bee Park Community Centre, Manorhamilton.

The 40km route goes anticlockwise to Dromahair via Kilcoosey, on to the Old Factory Turn and then straight back to Manorhamilton on the R280. This route is designed to cater for novice cyclists and for people who are looking for a leisurely introduction to sportive cycling. The 100km route takes in Drumkeerin and Dowra before the foodstop in Drumshanbo, then heads for home via Dromahair and Newtownmanor. The 100k is a very scenic route including a lap of Lough Allen and finishes with two climbs through beautiful Newtownmanor and Benbo.

As you can see from the maps above, the 150km route follows the same clockwise direction as the 200km route but with various shortcuts which cut out most of the climbs. The shorter route contains only three climbs while the longer takes in nine of the biggest climbs in County Leitrim.

This event is organised by Leitrim Glens Cycling Club.

In 2018 we were successful in receiving Leader funding for the erection of continental-style cycling signs at the start of each of the major climbs along our Sportive route in County Leitrim, as outlined on the map above. We are grateful to the Leitrim Development Company and Leitrim County Council for their support and cooperation in achieving Leader funding. We hope this initiative will add greatly to the enjoyment of the cycle.
